Welcome! Welcome! Gather 'round and lend an ear. I'm Fiddle! I am super excited (and nervous) to meet you all! Thank you for visiting my site and finding my blog! Fret and I have been close friends for a long time now, and we are looking forward to our official debut performance. Ye Olde Blog
I will be posting here about once a ten-day to update you on our adventures! As of right now, many-a-thing are brewing in the works. I'm excited to work on the website! I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to the magic box, but I'm certain I can figure it out!
The next big adventure this site will undergo is a Gallery. Fret and I have enlisted the help of a few magical items to create photos and art for your viewing pleasure. I hope to update you all soon with posts on the book of faces, the blue bird's tweet, and the gram of insta. We are still working on posting a moving picture on the tube of you (strange name)!
A Trip Through Time: London 1604
So, being in touch with my fae side, I do know a few things about wormholes, pocket dimensions, parallel universes, and space-time travel. Despite the rest of the world currently observing the end of the 2023rd year of the Gregorian calendar, Fret and I recently visited London in late October 1604 to observe the Gunpowder Plot at the Lady of the Lakes Renaissance Festival.
While in your time it was November 3rd-12th 2023, we were in 1604. The first few days Fret and I went, we simply observed the Londoners and walked amongst the people. However, in the following days, Fret and I brought our arcane focuses, for me, my soprano fiddle Polonius, and for Fret, his grandfather's guitar. That is when our fellow patrons, and even the royalty themselves began to ask questions- but this is a story for another time.
The Establishment of Fiddle & Fret
A strange aura surrounded me and Fret. It was as if the people of London were expecting something from us; like they were expecting entertainment. I had never performed as a soloist with Polonius, despite having many performances accompanied by mighty orchestras. However, Fret and I had spent a few moments in our cabin just outside of London rehearsing a piece called Greensleeves around a campfire. When called upon by the audience, I was unsure who was encouraging me more; Fret with his desire to display his hard work or the mead in my belly.
My performance, in my opinion, was mediocre at best. But even then, the crowd cheered for us, and I could see the starstruck glint in Fret's eye which in turn passed the glint into my eye as well. I knew I had to become a performer worthy of that cheer. Thus, after our expedition in London in 1604, we sought out opportunities to share our minstrel skills elsewhere, where we stumbled upon the town of Folkestone at the Bay Area Renaissance Festival.
Folkestone, February-March 2024
The rulers of Folkestone have formally invited me and Fret to perform with the villagers in celebration of their festival and we are pleased to announce our official first performances. For more information, please head over to the Live Performances page.
Kind listeners, I offer you my assistance in traveling back in time to Folkestone. Please make your way to the Bay Area Renaissance Festival on any weekend from mid-February to the end of March 2024 between 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM, and you will be transported along with us.
That's all I have for now! I hope you enjoyed my first blog post! You'll hear from me again soon!
With Love, Fiddle
